Day 1 – Tangalle

Travel Time Within 3 Hours

  • Relax On Arrival At Anantara Tangalle.
  • The Southern Highway Starts From Colombo Airport And Takes Guests Direct To Tangalle.

Day 2 – Tangalle / Galle

Day Trip: Within 1 Hour

  • The Port Of Galle Has Origins Lost In The Mists Of Time And May In Fact Be The Biblical ‘Tarshish’.
  • Huge Ramparts Built By The Portuguese And Dutch (1588) Enclose A Perfectly Preserved Old Town With Cobbled Streets And Hundreds Of Merchant’s Houses, Warehouses And Administrative Buildings Of Great Architectural Interest.

Day 3 – Tangalle

Local Sightseeing

  • The Mulkirigala Cave Temples Near Tangallle Are Of Sri Lanka’s Hidden Wonders.
  • A Series Of Cave Temples From The 3rd Century AD Contain A Large collection of paintings and sculptures belonging to the Kandyan Period, Mostly In A Good State Of Preservation.

Day 4 – Tangalle / Mirissa

Travel Time Within 2 Hours

  • Possible Nov-April
  • Enjoy The World’s Best Whale Watching In A High Speed Navy Cruiser (Galle Harbour - Weekends Only) Or By Speedboat (Mirissa).
  • The Coastal Waters Off Sri Lanka’s Southern Coast Are The Best Location In The World For Observing Blue Whales. Bryde’s Whales And Sperm Whales May Also Be Seen, As Well As Pods Of Dolphins

Day 5 – Tangalle / Ella

Travel Time: Within 2.5 Hours

  • Ella Is A Booming Town In The Eastern Hill Country Of Sri Lanka That Is Reached Through The Spectacular Ella Gap.
  • The Main Street Contains Hundreds Of Cafes, Shops And Restaurants. Nearby Is The Famous 9 Arch Railway Bridge And A Short Walk To Little Adams Peak Opens Up Amazing Views Down To The Coast.
  • It Is Also Possible To Arrange A Tea Tasting Experience At Amba Estate Or To Visit A Tea Factory And Plantation.

Day 6 – Tangalle

Local Sightseeing

  • Best January – April, Until July
  • Five species of turtles make their way to a stretch of untouched beach in Rekawa to lay their eggs before heading back to the ocean. Approximately 5-15 turtles visit the beach each night
  • The Rekawa project only permits natural hatchings, so please note that there is no guarantee of witnessing any baby turtles every day. However, there is a high likelihood of observing an adult turtle laying eggs around 8:30 PM.

Day 7 – Tangalle / Yala

Travel Time: Within 1.5 Hours

  • Yala national Park Is One Of Asia’s Great Wildlife Reserves OF Asia And Generally Acknowledged To Be The Best Location In The World To Observe Leopards In The Wild.
  • Other Wildlife Encounters May Include Ferocious Sloth Bears, Monster Crocodiles, Large Herds Of Elephants, Wild Water Buffaloes, Golden Jackals And Greater Flamingoes.

Day 8 – Tangalle / Deep South

Travel Time: Within 1 hour

  • The Deep South OF Sri Lanka Contains Some Of The Worlds Most Beautiful Coastal Landscapes With The South Coast Road Hugging The Ocean Most Of The Way.
  • Mirissa Has A Glorious Shallow Beach Now Crowded With Bars And Restaurants. Weligama Has One Of The Most Spectacular Bays In The World With Tiny Dotted Islands And Ahangama Is The Booming New Seaside Area With Chic And Fashionable Restaurants And Shops Attracting International Visitors.

Day 9 – Tangalle / Sinharaja

Travel Time: Within 2.5 Hours

  • Explore The Mighty And Misty, Sinharaja Rainforest Along The Waterfalls Trail – One Of Asia’s Great Bio Diversity Hot Spots. Sinharaja Is The Country's Last Area Of Primary Tropical Rainforest.
